Specialist Criminal Silk with wide experience prosecuting and defending in a vast number of complex, grave and high profile cases. Described as a "Leading Silk on Circuit" in Chambers & Partners Directory 2008. Head of Chambers.

Cases David has conducted include murder, manslaughter, serious sexual offences, substantial and complicated conspiracies to import and supply drugs, money laundering, general fraud, VAT fraud, mortgage fraud, tradings standards conspiracies and corporate manslaughter.

David also practices in Family Law (especially Care Proceedings involving physical and sexual abuse, neglect and cases with expert evidence to consider), European and Human Rights Law and Mental Health Law.

R v Allpress and others [2009] EWCA Crim 8; [2009] 1 Lloyds LR (FC) 242: the impact of the House of Lords rulings on money launderers
R v Browning (Murder of Marie Wilks on M50)
R v Sullivan (Second longest murder trial in Wales involving the successful defence of a Defendant woman charged with two others of the murder of a mother and her children.)
R v Tremlett (Case prosecuted by the Serious Fraud Office. The Defendant was charged with other solicitors with conspiracy to defraud the Legal Aid Fund)
R v Whittock (The “Who wants to be a Millionaire” trial, which attracted international publicity.)
R v Bowen (Succesful prosecution of a Defendant charged with the murder of his wife, a highly unusual case in that victim’s body was never found.
R v Geraint Evans (Represented a psychiatrically ill man charged with the savage murder of a local vicar. Complicated mental health issues arose during the case, which attracted nationwide publicity.)
R v Clark (Represented the director of a roofing company charged with corporate manslaughter of an employee.)
R v Antley (Professional man charged with series of very grave rapes and sexual assaults on children of various ages.
R v Hywel Evans (Represented a Defendant in huge conspiracy to import and supply Class A drugs, involving multiple defendants.
R v Grommek (Represented a Defendant charged with perjury arising out of the notorious miscarriage of justice resulting in the wrongful convictions of the “Cardiff Three”. The case involves novel and difficult points on the law of duress and is likely to go to the House of Lords and the European Court.)
R v Griffiths (Represented a Defendant charged with conspiracy to defraud the VAT Commissioners)

Family Law

Newport County Borough Council v W (Represented an Intervener in Care Proceedings alleging sexual abuse on young children. The case has been reported and is an authority on medical examination in such cases, and the presentation of experts’ evidence.)
Caerphilly County Borough Council v C (Represented a mother in Care Proceedings where serious allegations of physical abuse and neglect were alleged, and in which a number of experts in different medical and scientific fields was involved.)
Caerphilly County Borough Council v S and L (Represented foster parents in Care Proceedings where allegations of sexual and physical abuse were raised)
